In the high-speed wifi era, every trend feels like paper cups; you can use them whenever you need, then throw them out after it no longer serves you.

In such an era, to anchor our attention span, we need something raw, real, and beautiful.

Only a Ghicha Madhubani saree can give you that vibe.

Know why Ghicha Madhubani silk is different from others

Unlike the mulberry silk, which is perfectly polished with perfection, and woven for the Porsche cocktail parties. Ghicha obtains the inborn rawness.

It is collected directly from the natural cocoon thatswhy it contains a slub texture, uneven. This imperfection is the USP of the Ghicha Madhubani silk.

But its raw texture is just the blank canvas; the real magic happens when the Bihar girls get their hands on it.

The swirling motifs of fish, which symbolize fertility and luck, peacocks, and the tree of life, are the most famous artwork done on the Ghicha Madhubani saree.

The Sharp Lines, Intricate lattice, and the natural dyes also create a beautiful harmony on the fabric.

Know the history of Ghicha Madhubani saree

Historians say that this saree is closely associated with the Ramayana, most specifically with Janak Raja, the father of Sita.

During his kingdom, In mithila region, this particular artwork was practised widely by the women of that place.

King Janaka patronized this art for quite a few decades. Even some historians claimed that King Janaka hired these Madhubani artists to paint the wedding venue of his daughter sita.

So these artists were an indispensable part of Ram-Sita’s wedding.

For centuries, it was an in-house tradition drawn by women on mud walls and floors to celebrate births, weddings, and festivals.

Later on, it transferred to cloth and paper.  In the 1960s, to provide villagers with a livelihood during a severe drought, these paintings were sold to decorate the rich households.

But nowadays this art is going through a severe crisis. A handcrafted Madhubani saree is an exclusive piece of art; nobody is capable of duplicating an actual Madhubani saree. That's why the price of this saree is quite high. And today’s market is not ready to value this fabric.

That's why this art is quite extinct, but if you wear this, surely you will look mesmerising and unforgettable.
